On this page, you will find a number of expat products and services that we recommend for people who are thinking about living abroad for an extended period of time. (some affiliate links used)

Buying Online

Many of the products used in this section can be found in another blog post, “Can you get that there?” Many expats are unable to find the product that they are used to in their home country.  For that reason, we recommend the following services:

iHerb

For our health and beauty supplies, we like to use iHerb.  Not only do they have relatively good prices, but they also give loyalty credit to frequent users.  Moreover, the shipping costs are fairly reasonable.

Aramex Shop and Ship

Shop and Ship by Aramex allows you to have mailboxes in 18 difference countries.  We use Aramex whenever the products that we buy (from online stores or Amazon) does not directly ship to the country where we are located.  We are able to send it to our Aramex account in New York, and they will calculate and shipping charges or import duties and deliver it to us in just a few days.

Traveling Mailbox

Traveling Mailbox

We use Traveling Mailbox as our mail service when living abroad.  Traveling Mailbox gives us a physical US address where we can have our mail sent.  Traveling Mailbox will then open and scan our mail for us!

Mint Mobile

We used Mint Mobile during the summer of 2018 when we traveled back to the US.  Mint Mobile is a great pre-paid option for expats because it offers 3-month contracts only and uses T-Mobile’s network.  You can get 2GB of 4G LTE data for $15/month.  That is a really good deal for not just expats, but for everybody!

Express VPN

We chose ExpressVPN to use when overseas. This will allow us to have all of the online creature comforts of home (Netflix, Hulu) as well as being able to get things from the UK. There are also good privacy reasons to have a VPN.

Taxes

For some reason, the United States taxes its citizens regardless of whether or not the money made occurred in the US or not.  That means taxes can be a hassle. Using a site like Taxes for Expats can be a big help!

Use the code TwoTeacherTrek (no spaces) for $25 off their services!
